Confirmation of Payee checks will happen when you are setting up a new payee. Once you have inputted the details of your payee within the Griffin app, we will check that the name of the account matches the name you have inputted.

You could get any of the below responses:

  • Match - the name and account type match the account

  • Partial Match - the name provided is a close match to the name on the account

  • No Match - the name provided doesn’t match the name on the account

  • Unavailable, it has not been possible to check the name

In the case of a partial match, you will be able to go back and either: edit your payee’s details, accept the recommended suggestion, or use the partially matched details.

In the case of a no match, you will be able to go back and either edit your payee’s details, or use the unmatched details. If you use the unmatched details, you carry the risk of funds being sent to the wrong account.

In some cases when Confirmation of Payee is not available, such as when there is a system outage, you'll have to try setting up your payee again later before you can make a payment.
